Have been using the new version, and it seems fairly nice.

Question: what is "s/// replacement"? Is it some kind of customizable regex filter that I can use to do things in text (eg, http://help.hipchat.com/forums... Does only android have this or is it also available on other platforms (web/air)?

Pricing changes were made back in November:

First of all, Hip Chat is awesome! Thanks for it...And I'm absolutely OK with the new pricing, actually. I consider it to be reasonable and not at all costly;))

We don't have any immediate plans to format for the Kindle Fire or submit to the Amazon app store, but we'll add it to the list to look at for the next update

Do you have any plans to add a HipChat Android app formatted for the Kindle Fire to the Amazon App Store? I tried to side load it, but there are some formatting issues with the larger screen, like the text entry box on windows is about 1/2 height so you can't see what you're typing.

We use pretty much every Atlassian tool in our company on a daily basis. One of our IT guys even got their 'dragon slayer' t-shirt. Apparently they admit themselves you need to get a dragon slaying reward for being able to integrate all their products together. What does that tell you?
But yeah, it is very bloated. I have to work with Jira on a daily basis and I can't even tell you how much time I waste just waiting for things to load and how inefficient the design is. Meanwhile we have partly switched our company to the new basecamp. Seems to work well. Unfortunately no company does these tools right yet. Take for example Versionone, used by fortune 500s. The hosted version is a big joke, it works so slow its unusable. So yeah I think I have a case when I say that I'm really worried now that Atlassian has taken control of this amazing amazing chat system that nothing can compare to, because it -just works-.

Congratulations from a business perspective. From a product perspective I have my doubts. You had such a great useful product which focused on the essentials. I hope you do not end up with a bloated piece of software now. All the best.

Contentious issue! I understand the frustration, but ultimately agree that the right choice is just to create a newer (and better!) logo. With this experience as context, you now have a new chance to create something even more unique and memorable.

Been a while that you upgraded this... Could use an upgrade though. Startup is extremely slow with the constant reconnection, new messages aren't visible from the overview screens and there's no iPad version... It's quite a pain to use at this stage and I'd love a revamped version!

The more I use Altassian JIRA, Confluence, FishEye, Crucible, Crowd and Bamboo, the more I mostly hate the products. Yes, we went whole hog, big licenses, integrated with our corporate authentication, so everybody has access. But it's inefficient, often stupidly designed, obtuse, poorly integrated, missing key features, horribly segmented (JIRA / Confluence / FishEye integration is a joke -- Application Links my [expletive deleted]). I've been admin'ing this bloated mess and evangelizing it in my company for the past 2 years. I'm now sorry we ever made this choice. And the marketplace for extensions and customization is grossly overpriced and seemingly aided and abetted by Atlassian to cover for their lack of providing fully useful products.

I'd like it if it didn't choke indexing our repos. It's been useless for us because it simply can't handle our use case. It's not the amount of available CPU/RAM or anything else. We bought it but I'd like to have our money back because it's not doing any work for us. It has been an embarrassment for me personally because I announced the tool a bit too early just after we got it up and running and it was indexing. It would cause JIRA to lag when opening the linked project screen. And never seemed to finish indexing. I tried everything and there's very few hints on Atlassian's site how to solve this problem. So we gave up. I'm just guessing it wasn't designed for very large repos with years and years of activity.

Equally I'm somewhat annoyed at the inconsistency in UI and development pace between JIRA, Confluence, Fisheye. Doesn't really feel like there is a UI czar making sure that there is rigid consistency between the UIs of these tools, and also feels like the progress of JIRA is not trickling down into Confluence and Fisheye.

All that said we love JIRA and in general there is no real comparable in the market to JIRA + Confluence for our needs.

First let me say Congrats. From a business perspective, well done.

But, from a consumer perspective... not exactly what I would have preferred. I am no fan of Atlassian's products. Jira is downright awful. It shows a lack of understanding in how to build good products.

I'm an early adopter of HipChat. My whole organization relies on it. I wish it would stay independent. I was mortified when Heroku got gobbled up by Salesforce (ugh!). This isn't that bad, but it is not the sort of news I was hoping for.

But, as an entrepreneur myself, I do recognize the win this is for your stake holders.
